This is part of chapter four of my story "Touched by a Guardian" let me know what you think!
*Jack's POV*
I felt someone's gaze on me and turned to see a girl with shoulder langth blond hair staring at me from across the street. I pretended not to notice, it must just be a coincidence, she can't really see me... no one can.
But as I ran, I could still feel her gaze following me. Trying to be safe then sorry, I twirled around and let out a laugh, trying to blend with the normal kids. When her attention focused elsewhere, I quickly crouched and leapt into the air. Holding my staff in my left hand I flew up into the clouds.
The familiar feeling of wind rushing through my snow white hair and ruffling my loose fitting jacket brought sheer joy to my soul.
"Whoo!" I screamed as I went into a dive and swooped through another big puffy cloud. Catching an updraft, I swung my staff under my feet and spun over and over.
"Yeah! 360! 720!" I hollered. I came back down to earth and dodged between the cars that were driving down the road. It was awesome that no one could see me! It meant I could get away with a lot! I swung my staff again, creating a small ice ramp, and slid up it, twisting in the air and bouncing off a truck that was driving by.
I felt I'd done enough in the town and moved outwards towards the woods. I slid down snow drifts and skidded over frozen puddles until I came to a lake that was still thawed. I stopped and smiled, "Well hello! How come you're not frozen too?" I said chuckling lightly, "here, let me help you."
I stepped back a little, my staff glowing blue at the tip, then ran out onto the lake; the water freezing under my feet. I skid across the ice with my bare feet barely touching the surface until I'd frozen the entire lake. I paused to look at my creation, it was beautiful little frost swirls were frozen into the surface.
Satisfied, I leapt back into the air and darted through the trees. Snow was falling, causing the land around me to move in a blur. I was so caught up in the joy of the moment, I didn't notice the tree that seemed to pop up out of no where. Right in front of me.
